This site is operated by Fr. Chris Decker through Collarmark LLC. By using joecatholic.com, you're agreeing to these terms. If something here doesn't sit right, the simplest fix is to stop using the site — but we've tried to keep this short and reasonable rather than defensive.
1. What This Site Is
joecatholic.com hosts the Joe Catholic webcomic, drawing tutorials, and catechetical resources for K-8 students. It's a personal creative and ministry project — not a storefront, and not a corporation selling advertising.
2. Content & Intellectual Property
The comic, artwork, characters, and site design are protected. Full details — including what you're welcome to do without asking, and what needs written permission — are on the Copyright & Intellectual Property page. That page is part of these terms.
3. Third-Party Links & Services
This site links out to several things we don't operate directly, each governed by its own terms:
- Amazon — for purchasing the Joe Catholic book
- Joe Catholic's Sketchbook — our monthly newsletter, hosted on Substack, governed by Substack's Terms of Use and its own newsletter-specific privacy policy
- The Collarmark store — for books and merchandise, a separate site with its own checkout and terms
- YouTube, Ko-fi, and X — linked from the footer for videos, support, and social updates
We're not responsible for the content, availability, or practices of any of these third-party services once you leave joecatholic.com.
4. Acceptable Use
Use this site the way it's intended: reading, sharing links, and (for the catechetical resources) teaching. Don't scrape, mirror, or bulk-download the site, attempt to disrupt it, or use its content to train AI systems — that last one is covered in more detail on the Copyright page.
5. Not an Official Church Document
The comic, tutorials, and catechetical materials here reflect Fr. Chris Decker's own creative and catechetical work. They're offered in good faith and in communion with the Church, but this site is not a publication of any diocese, parish, or the Magisterium, and shouldn't be treated as an official doctrinal reference in place of the Catechism or your local pastor.
6. No Warranties
This site is provided "as is." We do our best to keep it accurate, working, and up to date, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted availability or that everything is error-free.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the extent allowed by law, Fr. Chris Decker and Collarmark LLC aren't liable for damages arising from your use of this site or any linked third-party service. This is a small, personal creative project — not a commercial platform with an enterprise risk budget.
8. Children's Use
The catechetical resources are designed for use by K-8 students, typically with a parent or teacher present. See the Privacy Policy for what data is (and isn't) collected from any visitor, including children.
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
10. Changes to These Terms
If we make significant changes, the "Last updated" date at the top will change.
